Spray Polyurethane Foam

What is Spray Polyurethane Foam?

This spray foam roofing system will not only insulate, but also waterproof your roof.  Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) is a lightweight, seamless barrier system that improves your building’s energy costs and efficiency with a white, reflective surface.

Eighty-five percent of the sun’s rays will be reflected away with the SPF roofing system, possibly saving you up to 30% in building cooling costs.

Spray Polyurethane Foam Benefits

  • Seamless Application
  • Made of strong, closed-cell, 3lb foam
  • Outstanding “R” value (R value is resistance to heat flow.) The higher the R value, the greater the insulating power.
  • Able to build up any low areas

The Process

Prepare

  • Dirt and gravel are removed and hauled to a recycling facility.

  • Structural roof deck is inspected for dry-rot; structural repairs are performed. Removal of existing roof membranes is often required in cases having extensive wood damage

  • Deteriorated edge flashing and vent caps are replaced.

  • Substrate is fastened to the roof deck. A new substrate, such as heavy tar paper, foam board and/or fiber board is installed in cases where existing roof membranes are not reused.

Apply SPF

SPF is a waterproof material that also has a high insulation value of R 6.25 per inch. When exposed to water, this roofing material remains dry because its foam cells are closed and impenetrable by water.

Two components combine to create waterproof polyurethane foam, isocyanate and resin. These materials travel separately through several controlled stages, wherein their temperature and pressure are precisely maintained. The two materials do not combine until they reach the tip of a special spray gun.

In essence, the foam roofing material is being manufactured in-place to form a waterproofing barrier of at least 1 inch with no joints and no seams.

Protective Coating

Our reflective coating is the ultimate combination of flexibility and strength. Resistance to air pollutants and ultraviolet degradation makes it a great choice for the toughest projects.

This 100-percent acrylic coating meets or exceeds requirements of most major code organizations, including Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Factory Mutual, Miami-Dade, and the International Code Conference.

It also earns the ENERGY STAR rating and an 85 percent solar reflective value for maximum energy efficiency.
